Mike De Filette's debut album for the R Cat label is actually his third release to date and can be summed up quite simply as 'the encouragement and engagement of cool moods'. Startling tracks include 'Alaska', 'Differences', 'Worlds' and 'Stars' but there's plenty to keep the ears occupied in Stars, Voyage lll and Beyond.

Overall, I think this is an album of consequences and ideas that have been nurtured into some very good and capable workings of the instruments and effects. Where the album is slightly weakened perhaps, in comparison to it's predecessors, is in what appears to be moments of rushed production notably on 'Waves' but Mike De Filette is an accomplished musician and more than makes up for such things in his brilliant delivery of fresh and engaging concepts.

Alaska is an album to own if you are thirsty for the kind of musical spring water that Mike uses to replenish the senses and to be quite honest... Mike's cleverly composed spring water is in very short supply during a time of great drought.
