The fact that Jean Michel Jarre has sold sixty million albums since his 1976 debut 'Oxygene' and it's incredible follow up 'Equinoxe' has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Teo and Tea, his first album since 'Aero' (2004), is a truly welcome and 'holds your breath' piece of work.

With the venture into more sensualized dance oriented deliverables, Jean Michel has Teo and Tea presented as a kind of contemporary boy meets girl stage play for the lasers and the turntables. The compositions are every bit as impressive, dynamic, and inventive as much of Jean Michel's earlier work but with the noted departure from his previous atmospheric and/or ambient ventures. Now although this could upset some hardened Oxygene/Equinoxe era fans, you have to remember that we're talking about a consummate artist here who writes, composes, and produces music not in the studio room next door to the other studio but in an entirely different world. It's when he brings his souvenires back, like Teo and Tea, that we start to judge the goods!

The real highlights have to be Teo and Tea, Beautiful Agony, Partners in Crime, and Touch to Remember, but it's one of those releases that you can't put down and you're kinda 'willed' to persevere with your voyage of discovery which is what this album really is.

If you've never really taken much notice of Jean Michel Jarre, there is something wrong with you that I cannot begin to diagnose. On the other hand, if you absolutely love awe inspiring atmospherics and you're expecting to find it in Teo and Tea, you will be crushed! I love Teo and Tea cos it's Jean Michel Jarres latest album, it's brilliant, and lets be honest... who's gonna argue with anything he ever produces after giving this world so much?
